Annual Report

2025

In 2023, the City of Davis adopted its Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP) which replaced the previous Community Forestry Management Plan (2002). The development of Davis’ UFMP was a community effort and the product is a unique, online-based 40-year plan that is intended to be the overall guide for the management of Davis’ urban forest program. The UFMP looks at key areas of the urban forest and includes recommendations for managing, budgeting, service level metrics and process improvements.

The completion of UFMP was the first step of many in the reevaluation and improvements to the City’s Urban Forestry (UF) program. In the years since its adoption by City Council, UF has continued to strive toward the development and updating of tree-related specifications, standards, policy, procedures and the City’s Tree Ordinance.

As called for in the UFMP, Urban Forestry released the first annual State of the Urban Forest at the Climate and Environmental Justice Commission meeting on October 28, 2024. Annual reports are provided hereafter to show progress towards the goals and action items of the UFMP, in addition to a summary of annual activities and metrics within the urban forestry program.
