Pollution in Discharges from Residential Activities

Activities that take place at residential areas, such as pesticide application, car washing and maintenance, spa and pool cleaning, landscape maintenance and watering, disposal and storage of household chemicals, garden wastes, and soils from erosion are all pollutants when exposed to rain water and even wind. As runoff from rain comes into contact with these materials, it can transport pollutants to nearby storm drains, wetlands, and creeks. The goal of this webpage is to increase awareness of pollutants to help reduce or control the discharge of pollutants in runoff from the use of certain products and engaging in certain activities.
