You can only do proof of correction for the following two parking violation types:
1. 5204(a) cvc Current Registration Tabs
2. 5200 cvc Missing License Plate(s)
No other violations qualify for proof of correction fee reduction.
You must have your citation corrected, viewed, and signed off by law enforcement personal in order to receive a fee reduction to $10 and it must be completed in 21 days from the date you were cited. You may initiate a Parking Citation Review Request if you believe that your violation did not occur, or that extenuating circumstances existed to warrant the dismissal of the citation.

Residential Permits:
Virtual permit tied to your license plate @ $16.00/permit year (check dates when purchasing). These are only available to the residents on a permitted street and if your address offers off street parking it might not qualify for a permit. Current 2024-2025 permits are valid from the date you purchase until 8/31/2025.
Visitor Permits:
Physical permit mailed to your address @ $16.00/permit year (check dates when purchasing). This is only available to the residents on a permitted street to use when you have guests. Not all streets allow for visitor permits due to limited parking for residents. Current 2024-2025 permits are valid from the date you purchase until 8/31/2025.
Commuter Permits:
Virtual permit for those working in the downtown tied to your license plate @ $120/permit year (check dates when purchasing) or $10/month (This is only for the month in which you purchase the permit in, for example if you purchase a permit on October 5th, it will only be good through the last day of October). Commuter permits can be purchased for 1 to 12 months at a time; make sure to look at dates the permits are valid, no pro-ration of the fee is offered. You can see the locations you are allowed to park in the downtown using an X permit on this city map available lower in this section.
All permit purchases online, or in person, must be made using a credit or debit card and will incur a $3.95 service fee.
No refunds will be offered for unused time on any of the parking permits.
If you choose to purchase your permits in person during these dates, please bring the following with you:
Homeowners: Copy or picture of current registration for all permitted vehicles.
Renters: Copy or picture of current lease/rental agreement showing property address and your name with beginning and ending lease dates; Copy of current registration for permitted vehicle.
Business Employees/Owners: Copy or picture showing proof of employment/business (ie: business license, business card, check stub) and vehicle's registration.
Parking Maps and Other Parking Information
Note: The parking structure located on 4th street next to the railroad tracks is privately owned and any parking citations issued at that location are serviced by Central Parking Services (Contact information should be available at garage).
Parking Citation Payment Plan
Payment plans will be available to customers that qualify as Indigent (low income) per the State Assembly Bill AB503. Payment plan parameters are as follows:
Payment plans are only available for California registered vehicle owners or lessee.
Applications must be made within 60 days from the date of issuance, or 10 days from the Administrative Hearing, whichever is later.
Applications will be received by CCS and notification will be sent advising of approval or denial to program.
If approved:
Monthly payment installments will not exceed $25 on fine amounts of $300 or less.
The number of monthly installments is predetermined by the City based on the fine amount, however, payment plans cannot exceed 18 months.
There is a $5.00 fee per citation to enroll in a payment plan.
No parking penalties or services fees will be filed with DMV and there will be no holds added to vehicle registration.
An individual has 45 calendar days from the date of the plan is delinquent to resume payments to avoid filing with the DMV and continue with the payment plan. Reinstatement to a defaulted plan is one-time only.
All late fees and penalty assessments will be reinstated for customers that fall out of compliance.
California registered vehicle owner or lessee can qualify for the payment plan by meeting one of two of the following requirements:
Monthly income meets low income guidelines set by Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Proof of income from two consecutive payment stubs or proof of earnings is required. Visit the HUD Income Limits website for more details.
Receiving public benefits from at least one of the following programs. Proof of benefit is required.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
State Supplementary Payment (SSP)
California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids act (CalWORKs)
Federal Tribal Temporary Assistance for needy Families (Tribal TANF)
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (also known as CalFresh or SNAP)

It is important that you read the instructions on each page as you go through the permit purchase process. On the Select Permit and Permit Agreement page you will see the following information in red that reads:
"You may only choose one selection below, if you address allows it, you will have the ability to purchase addition permits on the “View Cart” page".
When you come to the View Cart page, you will find instructions in red that reads:
"If you want to add additional permits to your account, click on "Permits" and then "Get Permits" in the top navigation bar to make a selection".
Vehicle plate changes to an existing X Commuter or Residential Permit:
If you need to change what vehicle is attached to existing permit, follow these step by step instructions.
a. You will be provided a list of all active permits on your account.
b. For vehicle information for the permit, click on permit number to display in the Permit Detail page. You can click the back button to return to the active permit list.
4. Click on the permit number you will be making changes to.
5. You will be directed to your Permit Detail Page.
a. Scroll to bottom of page and click on Add Vehicles to Permit.
b. A list of vehicles you have added to your account will be displayed. (If you are adding a new vehicle, skip to section c).
i. Check the box next to that vehicle you are adding to the permit and click on the Add the Selected Vehicle button at the bottom of the list.
ii. You will be directed back to your Permit Detail page, at this time you should see the license plate you want to remove and the new license plate you are adding.
iii. You must then click the Delete Button next to the vehicle you are removing from the permit.
iv. The permit is now ready to use with the license plate number you changed to.
c. To add a new vehicle, scroll down to the bottom of the Add Vehicles to Permit page and click on Add a New Vehicle button.
i. You will be directed to the Register Additional Vehicle page. Fill in all required boxes and click Next
ii. You can add the drivers name for your records or leave blank and click next.
iii. You will be directed to the Add Vehicle to Your Permit page. Find the new license plate you added and check the box next to the plate. Click on the Add the Selected Vehicle button at bottom of page.
iv. You will be directed back to your Permit Detail page, at this time you should see the license plate you want to remove and the new license plate you are adding.
v. Click the Delete Button next to the vehicle you are removing from the permit.
vi. The permit is now ready to use with the new license plate number you entered.

I received a parking citation for not having Current Registration Tabs on my vehicle; 5204(a) CVC, how do I fix this?
Answer:
The fee for this citation is $117; or will be reduced to $10.00 with proof of correction within 21 days of receiving the citation. In order to obtain proof, please follow these steps:
1. You must obtain your current registration tabs from the DMV, after you do so, place them on your vehicle.
2. You will then need to go to your nearest local law enforcement office, take the citation with you, a law enforcement representative will sign off the back of the citation after viewing the vehicle to confirm the registration tabs are affixed.
3. Bring in your off the signed citation and the $10 proof of correction fee (within 21 days of receiving the citation) to the Davis Police Department, 2600 Fifth Street Davis, CA 95618.

You can submit your citation for review through the online portal. Make sure to include any information you wish to be considered, including diagrams and/or photographs. Do not attach your original citation(s). Keep your original cite for your records.
