Project Phase 3 (PDF)

In order to provide improved safety and efficient circulation, the City of Davis Public Works – Engineering and Transportation Department will soon begin a project to replace the remaining asphalt bike paths in Covell Park. This project is part of our annual transportation rehabilitation program.

This work will include three areas: 1) the pathway between Catalina Ave on the west side of the park and between Cortez Ave and Baja Ave on the east side of the park; 2)the north portion of the pathway between Balboa Ave and Encina Ave and Huerta Place; and 3) the area between Covell Blvd and the bike/pedestrian overcrossing (west side of the overcrossing).

Please note that the three areas are considered three separate phases, and the phases will not be constructed concurrently.

This project will impact bicycle and pedestrian traffic in the surrounding neighborhoods and for those traveling through the Covell Park to and from school. There will be detour signs to direct traffic around the work area. To keep disruption of day-to-day activities in the neighborhood to a minimum during construction of this project, the City requires the contractor to perform work during the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM and maintain a dust and noise mitigation program. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the project, please call Melissa Marshall, Project Manager or Michael Mitchell, CIP Manager, at (530) 747-5846. Construction is estimated from September 2019 – December 2019.

As always, the Public Works- Engineering and Transportation Department strives to protect the City’s investment in its infrastructure and public facilities, plans for future improvements to address changing needs, and ensure the health and safety of the community in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
