Nomination Period - July 13, 2026 to August 7, 2026
During the nomination period, any eligible candidate may make an appointment with the City Clerk to receive Nomination Papers. Individuals are considered “official” candidates upon the submission and qualification of Nomination Papers. It will take approximately 1 hour to issue the documents and review requirements. Appointments can be made by contacting the City Clerk’s Office at 530-757-5648 or clerkweb@cityofdavis.org.
To be eligible to run for the office, candidates must be:
- 18 years of age or older
- United States citizen
- Resident of the District (and must remain so for the entire term)
- Registered voter (in the District) at the time nomination papers are issued
- Not convicted of a felony involving accepting, giving, or offering any bribe; embezzlement or theft of public money; extortion; perjury; or conspiracy to commit any of those crimes
August 7, 2026 - Last day to submit completed nomination papers (will be extended 5 calendar days if the incumbent in either District 1 or District 4 does not submit nomination papers by August 7).
August 12, 2026 - Nomination Period Extension: If the incumbent in either District 1 or District 4 does not submit nomination papers by August 7, the nomination period will be extended 5 calendar days for any qualified candidate besides the incumbent.
