To help celebrate May is Bike Month, the City of Davis invites everyone to get on their bikes for the 14th Annual Loopalooza on Sunday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In partnership with Bike Davis and community organizations, this beloved family-friendly tradition is a community bike ride event with activity stations along the 12-mile bike loop.
This year, there are some updates to Loopalooza. Now, there are four ways community members can complete the liability waiver before they participate. Learn more about the new, advanced, paper-free waiver process at: www.cityofdavis.org/Loopalooza. In addition, participants can check-in at stations using the Loopalooza website
There are also more activities and participation this year than ever before. The 11 interactive stations along the loop include the following organizations and activities:
- Community Park:
- Celebrate bike month with Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District
- Learn about the new bike pump track from Davis Bike Park Alliance
- Provide your thoughts to the City of Davis Parks and Community Services team about the Skate Park
- Discover books on bikes from the Yolo County Library
- Holmes Junior High:
- Plant a seed and learn about the upcoming city-wide bicycle scavenger hunt with UC Davis Environmental Design Students
- Bike mechanics from Mike's Bikes
- Join the dance party with hula dancers from the Davis Senior Center
- Mace Ranch Park:
- Check out Cool Davis to learn about cool ways to live.
- Dance, dance, dance with the Davis Line Dancers
- Take a break at Explorit Science Center! Explore our hands-on display highlighting animals and their adaptions. Want to discover see more, park your bike and purchase admission to visit the current exhibit "Our Wild World".
- Willow Creek Park:
- Take a ride on a Spin Shared Micromobility device.
- Marguerite Montgomery Elementary School:
- Participate in the City of Davis Police and Scouts bicycle rodeo
- Take a break and enjoy snacks and drinks sold by the Davis Food Coop.
- Celebrate soccer with the American Youth Soccer Organization at nearby Walnut Park
- UC Davis Arboretum:
- Celebrate bike month with Yolo Commute
- Test ride e-bikes with the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates
- Learn about the Bohart Museum
- UC Davis ARC Lawn:
- Jam to the UC Davis Marching Band playing from 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Sing your favorite karaoke song at karaoke hosted by Carol. Karaoke will be on a break while the marching band is performing.
- UC Davis Shield Library:
- Meet the ASUCD Bike Barn staff and talk with a bike mechanic
- Village Homes:
- Test ride a WhymCycles bike hosted by Peter Wagner and Bike Davis
- Sycamore Park:
- Check out the Girl Scouts
- Arroyo Park:
- Enjoy treats sold by Purple Tree Café
- Discover the City of Davis Parks Teen Leadership Council
- Make art with the Davis Community Action Network
Make this free event a special day for your family and friends by visiting local greenbelts, picnicking at the park and connecting with friends and neighbors.
