2020 Summer Programming Update - Monday, May 18, 2020

Post Date:May 18, 2020 11:15 am

To Our Valued Customers,

Late last week, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Yolo County both issued additional guidelines for summer youth programs.  The purpose for these guidelines are intended to assist  agencies in determining the most appropriate actions to take in the potential offering of camps and programs this summer.  We know that the City’s programs play a vital role in the lives of our participants, and we want to ensure that we can still provide quality and fun activities for the community, while also ensuring the safety of our participants, their families and our front line staff.

Now that we have some initial guidelines, we are working diligently on trying to finalize our summer programming offerings.  What we do know is that the City is not able to provide the wide variety of programming that has been offered in the past, and that our community has grown accustomed to.  Due to the City’s inability to meet all the health & safety requirements as of now, the following programs are being canceled for the 2020 summer:

  • 4th of July Softball Tournament - canceled

  • Adaptive Recreation – Bowling, Events, Game Nights & Trips – all sessions canceled

(Stay tuned for new virtual activities in their place!)

  • Babysitter Training – all sessions canceled

  • Band & Strings – all sessions canceled

  • Gymnastics camp, classes and events – all sessions canceled

  • Hackington’s Classes – all sessions canceled

  • Kids in the Kitchen – all sessions canceled

  • PM Kids Camp – all sessions canceled

  • Recreation Leader in Training – all sessions canceled

  • Teen Camp – all sessions canceled

  • Trekkers – all sessions canceled

For the remaining camps and programs that the City was planning on offering this summer, staff is still making final decisions as to potential modifications, and hope to have more information finalized as soon as possible.  Information will be placed on the City’s web site and participant families will be contacted with enrollment/cancellation options as soon as details are finalized.

We understand that this is a difficult time for our families, as everyone tries to bring back some level of “normalization” without jeopardizing their health and safety.  We want to make the best decision possible for our families so we ask for your patience for a little longer.

For any City canceled programming, full refunds or household credits will be issued to our customers.  As of now, we are still hopeful that modified programs and limited camp activities can still be offered, so please stay tuned for new updates next week.

We want to encourage you, your family and friends to stay healthy and safe by following both the State and Yolo County Health guidelines, and we hope to see you and your children back in our programs soon.

Sincerely,

Christine Helweg, Assistant Director
