Davis Downtown Business Association Launches Gifting Stimulus Program

Post Date:April 22, 2020 4:01 pm
The Davis Downtown Business Association (DDBA) announced today the launch of its Gifting Stimulus Program that aims to infuse $100,000 into downtown Davis businesses. The DDBA and the City of Davis have co-sponsored this program to encourage our community and anyone that has ties to our city and the university to purchase gift cards/certificates for their favorite businesses.
Up to $50,000 of gift cards/certificates can be purchased through the program and a match of an additional $50,000 will be provided as stimulus money to our downtown businesses.
“This campaign is designed to support businesses right now and in real time during the shelter in place,” said Brett Maresca, Executive Director, Davis Downtown. “Downtown Davis businesses need you now more than ever.”
“This new program infuses cash into businesses immediately and will help our downtown to survive during this unprecedented time,” said Lucas Frerichs, Davis City Councilmember. “Buying these gift cards that have a match is one of a variety of ways to support our downtown merchants, and I’m confident that our community will continue to step up in this time of need.”
How the stimulus program works:
1. Visit the DDBA website portal at: where you will choose the business (or businesses) that you want to support and make the purchase of gift cards/certificates.  Buyers will have the option of gift value and quantity.
2. Once buyers purchase gift cards/certificates through our website portal, a certificate/card will be sent to buyers by the business.
3. Businesses will receive the money for gift card/certificate purchase plus a match, dollar for dollar, as stimulus money. For example, if you purchase a $50 gift card for your favorite downtown business, you will receive the $50 gift card and the business will receive $100 from the DDBA (the $50 gift card purchase value + $50 stimulus donation match).
4. The stimulus money is provided to the businesses from the DDBA and the City of Davis, which are matching the gift purchases ($25,000 from the DDBA and $25,000 from the City of Davis).
* IMPORTANT:  Gift cards/certificates MUST be purchased directly through the DDBA website portal for the respective businesses to receive the matching donation.
Businesses must register to participate. To register your downtown business through a simple online form, follow this link:
All businesses within the Downtown Business Improvement District (DBID) are members of the DDBA and are eligible to participate in the Gifting Stimulus Program with a cap of $1,000 stimulus funds per business.
This program will last for a limited time. Deadline information will be forthcoming.
