The Street Smarts Poster Winners

More than 100 Davis kids showed off their Street Smarts in the first City of Davis Street Smarts Poster Contest.

Students from each elementary school in Davis participated, with a total of 108 entries. Participants were asked to create original artwork focusing on the importance of safe bicycle riding, proper helmet use and/or crossing the street safely.

At an Awards Ceremony held November 14 at Third and B, KCRA Traffic Pulse 3 Reporter Adrienne Bankert presented the winners with their prizes.

The Grand Prize went to Michelle Kim, a fifth-grader at Montgomery Elementary School. She received a portable DVD player. Kate Lee, a Valley Oak fourth-grader, placed First and received an IPod Shuffle. The Runner Up winner was Ellen Finn, a Birch Lane fifth-grader, who received a $50 Target gift certificate.

The Grand, First and Runner-Up posters will be displayed at City Hall through the end of December and will be incorporated into Street Smarts marketing materials.

Thank you to all the participants for their hard work, creativity and Street Smarts!
