We all want our landscapes and gardens to be beautiful
and bountiful, but pests can be a difficult challenge. Many Davis residents
use conventional pesticides as their Þrst choice for pest treatment.
The result is that some of these pesticides wash from our properties into
the storm drain system and then into Davis ponds, creeks, and wetlands.
We need to keep pesticides out of our waterways. They can
harm aquatic life locally and in the nearby rivers and bays. Only rain
water belongs in a storm drain.
The solutions are easy - we just need to do a little pesticide
management for the bugs in our lives. The Pesticide Outreach Program provides
some tips as well as alternative methods for treating the most common pests
found in Davis' gardens.
