Davis Police Dept Statement Against Bias Profiling

7.70 BIAS PROFILING A fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States to all who live in this nation is to the equal protection under the law.

For the purposes of this regulation, bias profiling is defined as the detention, interdiction, or other disparate treatment of any person based solely on their sex, religion, race, color, ethnic status, sexual preference, ancestry, age, marital status, medical condition, or physical handicap. The Department does not endorse, train, teach, support, or condone any type of bias profiling by any member acting under color of law. Members shall not train, teach, support, condone, or engage in bias profiling.

Members shall have an affirmative duty to report violations of this regulation. All complaints or allegations of bias directed towards or received by a supervisor, manager, or administrator shall be interpreted as a formal complaint and shall be investigated pursuant to current Policy and Procedure.
