Citizen Police Academy
The Citizen Police Academy provides an opportunity for citizens to become familiar with the day-to-day operations of the Davis Police Department. This will enable participants to gain a better understanding of the procedures, guidelines, responsibilities, and demands that guide the Davis Police Department and its officers through their operations.
Spring classes are April 1st-May 20th, every Tuesday from 6-8pm.

- Explosives Demonstration
- Use of Force Issues
- Crime Prevention
- Community Policing
- Investigations: Child Abuse Investigations, Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault
- High Tech Crimes
- K-9 Demonstration
- Community Issues
Who can attend?
Persons who live, work, or attend school in the City of Davis are eligible to apply and will be given first preference. However, anyone over the age of 16 may apply and may be accepted on a space available basis.
What are the requirements?
Persons who want to attend must be at least 16 years of age, have no prior felony convictions, and no outstanding warrants. Applicants under the age of 18 must have their parents sign a permission form prior to acceptance.
When and where is the citizen police academy held?
The Davis Police Department will host one Academy per year.
The Citizen Police Academy is held at the Davis Police Department. Some activities and demonstrations may be held in various locations in and around Davis.
Academies will normally run 8 weeks. Classes will be held on Tuesday nights from
6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. .
