Online Registration -
Frequently Asked Questions
If you have questions about our new online class registration system, we hope you will find the answers here. If not, please call at our office at (530) 757-5626, or send email to registration@cityofdavis.org
- How do I know that my registration is successful?
- Your receipt will be automatically e-mailed to the address we have on file. Please check your receipt.
The receipt is your confirmation
that the transaction completed successfully and the status is ENROLLED
or WAIT LIST. Always print a copy of your receipt so you have your
class information handy.
- What if I forget my User ID or Password?
- There is a link on the sign-in page if you have forgotten
your User ID or Password. Your information will be sent to you via
e-mail, or you can call our office. You can call us at (530) 757-5626.
- Can I change my household information on-line?
- No. You must call our office to update your household
information. You can reach us at (530) 757-5626.
- Do I need to have an account set up to browse class information?
- No. Click on the "GUEST" button to browse
class information, including class status (number enrolled, number
of openings, number on wait list). You can also view and download
a print copy of the Recreation Class Schedule from our Forms
& Publications page.
- How do I update my household information?
- To update your household information, please contact
our office. You can call us at (530) 757-5626.
- Why is the adult age wrong for my household?
- When your account is initially set up with a primary
and secondary guardian, birthdates are usually not included on your
registration forms. We use a default birthdate of 1/1/1950 for
adults that do not provide a birthdate. We are happy to correct
the adult birthdate information on your household account. You
can email the correct birthdate information to registration@cityofdavis.org,
or call our office at (530) 757-5626.
- How can I increase my chances of being drawn for the classes I choose?
- Always be sure to list a first, second, and third choice class.
- Are my chances of getting into a class better if I mail in a registration rather than use the web registration?
- No, both methods are the same. All registrations received
between the distribution of the recreation class schedule and priority
registration deadline are entered into the same system. When all the
registration received by the priority registration deadline is entered,
our computer will process the "lottery spin" and place individuals
in their first, second, or third choice classes. If the computer cannot
place the individual in a first, second, or third choice class, the
individual will be added to the waiting list for the first choice
class.
- Can I guarantee that my children get in the same class?
- No. While we were able to try to enroll siblings into
the same class in the past when we processed registrations by hand,
our new automated lottery spin process is based on individuals. The
system does not have a way to link individuals together. Siblings
who are entered in the lottery for a class will be processed separately,
and may or may not both be drawn for the class.
- When will I receive confirmation of my placement in the classes?
- All confirmations for priority registration will be
mailed or e-mailed before we open for walk-in registration.
- Can I pay outstanding balances or use my household credit when I register on line?
- Yes. You are able to view your household history, including
outstanding balances and credits.
- When is my credit card charged?
- Your credit card is charged for your first choice classes
at the time the registration is made. Once we complete the lottery
spin, we will recalculate the amount you owe based on the classes
you are actually enrolled in (first, second, or third choices), and
then charge your card any additional amount owed, or credit back any
overpayment.
- What if I miss the priority registration deadline?
- We will not accept any registration between the priority
registration deadline and our anticipated walk-in date. If we are
ready to accept registrations (walk-in, mail-in, online) before the
scheduled walk-in date, we'll post the new date above and change our
after-hours telephone recording.
- Can I register for swim classes for the whole summer?
- No. Our standard aquatics enrollment policy continues.
Participants in Seahorse, Turtle, Starfish, Tadpole, and Private Lessons
may register for two sessions at a time. Participants in Guppy, Stingray,
Swordfish, Dolphin, Shark, and Killer Whale may only register for
one session at a time.
- Why do some non-residents pay $6 per person per class extra and some pay $12 per person per class extra?
- Households not in the city limits but within the Davis
Joint Unified School District pay the extra $6. You are a non-resident
within the School District if you live in El Macero, the older part
of Willowbank, the Binning Tract and North Davis Meadows near the
golf course, on-campus UC Davis Housing, the Cactus Corner area, and
Royal Oaks Mobile Home Park. Households that do not have a Davis address
pay $12 extra per person per class.
- Can I apply for the Fee Subsidy Program using the online class registration system?
- No. You must still apply by completing a separate application
packet, which can be found on the Fee
Subsidy Program information page.
- If I've applied for a fee subsidy, can I use the online system to register and pay for classes where I pay the full fee, or to pay any outstanding balances?
- Yes. Fee Subsidy applicants can use the online system
to register and pay for classes when you are paying the full fee.
You can also pay any outstanding balances, including payments for
fee subsidy classes.
- Why are some class sections W1 and others are 1W?
- The session numbers for one week programs are the week
number plus W. Two week programs are W plus the start week.
- How do I get the handouts that are listed on some classes?
- Parent handbooks, permission slips, and weekly calendars
are available online for you to download. The appropriate link is
listed in the class notes section, and on your receipt. If you know
the class number or class name, you can search for the handouts on
the Recreation Class Handouts
page.
- Why can't I enroll a child that is "almost" the correct age for a class?
- Classes are designed for certain ages or grades to ensure
the best experience for the children in the class. The age calculation
for a class is based on the birth date of the participant and the
last day of the class. Once the priority registration process is complete,
supervisors may consider special circumstances if there are openings
in a class. You will need to contact our office at us at (530) 757-5626
to request a consideration of special circumstances. We will not
consider special requests prior to completing the priority registration
process.
- Why does the class say "All Ages" but I can't enroll my child?
- Classes are designed for certain ages or grades to ensure
the best experience for the children in the class. Unfortunately,
due to a quirk in the system, classes that are restricted by grade
instead of age show up as "All Ages". We are working
with the software vendor to resolve this issue.
- Are there classes I can't sign up for using online registration?
- Yes. You cannot sign up for adult sports leagues using
online registration. The adult sports program has a different schedule
for priority registration and a different set of prerequisites. Detailed
information about registration for adult sports leagues can be found
in the Recreation Class Schedule.
