Welcome to the City of Davis Parks & Recreation Facilities Master Plan Update website. This website will serve as an information resource for all interested citizens during the update process.
What is a Parks and Facilities Master plan?
A parks and facilities master plan is a strategic document that studies existing parks and facility assets, and identifies a planning blueprint to expand, improve and protect these assets for the future.
Why is the City of Davis doing a Master Plan update now?
Like all California communities, the City of Davis continues to evolve and change. All planned parks have been built. Not all planned facilities have been built. The Parks and General Services Department is embarking on the Master Plan update to ensure that it continues strengthening community image and providing excellent service to all Davis residents now and into the future.
What is the Master Plan process?
The Master Plan update is a year long process that involves collecting existing parks and population data, touring and evaluating the condition of Davis Parks and Facilities, and connecting the public to community interests and needs. The facility and program needs of the community will be assessed through a telephone survey, web survey and public events. The synthesis of this information will result in an update of relevant goals, policies, classifications and standards related to the delivery of parks and programs for the Davis community. The updated plan will allow the Department to continue providing the same quality of services and opportunities that Davis residents currently enjoy.
This update of the Parks and Facilities Master plan will be completed in spring 2008.
How can I get involved in the Master Planning Process?

You can receive notice of meetings, workshops, and updates to the master plan website by subscribing to the Parks & Recreation Facilities Master Plan Email List.
There are a number of ways for you to get involved in the Master Planning Process. The first step is to fill out the online survey! The survey will allow you to tell us about your experience with Davis’ Parks and Recreation programs. You can also forward the survey to friends and family living in Davis so they can fill out the survey as well.
A random-digit dial, statistically valid phone survey will be administered in early October. If you are contacted by a telephone survey company asking for your time to talk about Parks and Community Services in Davis, please participate!
The City of Davis and MIG will also host a public workshop to present key findings of the Master Planning process and solicit further public input to inform the planning process. Watch for workshop dates in the future!
