The City Council adopts a legislative calendar by resolution on an annual basis. "On Call" dates may be changed to a "Regular Meeting" upon the request of the City Council. "Special Meeting" dates may be scheduled on an as-needed basis. Discussion of the Long Range Calendar takes place at each City Council meeting.

A regularly updated Tentative Meeting Schedule may be viewed on the City Council Meeting Schedule page. Agenda items and dates listed in the Meeting Schedule are tentative only, and are subject to change.

Function/Purpose

As the legislative branch of the City of Davis municipal government, the City Council holds open public meetings where local laws, policies, and basic decisions for the municipality are discussed and decided. City Council members are elected at large - Davis does not have council districts. The City Council then selects one member to serve as Mayor, and one to serve as Mayor Pro Tempore.

Regular Meeting Time & Place

The Davis City Council holds regular meetings beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, with exception of the fifth Tuesday of the month and the Tuesday prior to a holiday. Check the Schedule of Upcoming Meeting Dates and the posted agendas for currently scheduled meetings.

The Davis City Council meets in the Community Chambers at City Hall, 23 Russell Boulevard (corner of Russell Blvd. and B St.).

Other Meetings

In addition to regular meetings of the City Council, council members serve as liaisons to City commissions, committees, and task forces, meet regularly with other local government agencies, and serve as board members of regional governmental organizations.
